Variety reports exclusively that Warner Bros. is currently developing an animated reboot of the beloved cartoon franchise SCOOBY-DOO. The project follows a duo of live-action/animated films from the studio including 2002's "Scooby-Doo" and 2004's "Scooby-Doo: Monsters Unleashed".

Matt Lieberman, who recently completed an untitled project for Paramount Animation as well as "Short Circuit", will write the script. No storyline details have been unveiled.

The original series, Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!, was created for Hanna-Barbera Productions by writers Joe Ruby and Ken Spears in 1969. The Saturday morning cartoon series featured four teenagers-Fred Jones, Daphne Blake, Velma Dinkley and Norville "Shaggy" Rogers-and their talking brown Great Dane dog namedScooby-Doo, who solve mysteries involving supposedly supernatural creatures through a series of antics and missteps.
