S. Epatha Merkerson in Talks for Marvin Gaye Biopic SEXUAL HEALING

According to Deadline.com, Law & Order's S. Epatha Merkerson is in talks to play Marvin Gaye's mother in the biopic Sexual Healing, starring fellow Law & Order actor Jesse L Martin and directed by Julien Temple.

Sexual Healing follows Gaye's time trying to put his life back together in Europe in the '80s before he was shot by his father in Los Angeles and died on April 1, 1984.

Jesse L Martin recently took over the role of Gaye after Lenny Kravitz dropped out. BrenDan Gleason also stars as music promoter Freddy Cousaert. Sexual Healing is produced by Vassal Benford and Fred Bestall.

The actress has won a Golden Globe, an Emmy, a Screen Actors Guild Award, an Obie Award and four NAACP Image Awards, as well as two Tony Award nominations. Onstage, Merkerson has appeared in August Wilson's The Pianno Lesson, I'm Not Stupid and Come Back, Little Sheba.

Merkerson first starred on television in "Pee-wee's Playhouse", followed by her extensive stint in "Law & Order" as 'Lt. Anita van Buren' for 19 years. She currently stars in NBC's "Deception". Merkerson has appeared on the big screen in Jacob's Ladder, Loose Cannons, She's Gotta Have It, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Lackawanna Blues and Lincoln.
