Yesterday it was reported that Ryan Seacrest, host of 'On Air with Ryan Seacrest', a nationally syndicated Top 40 radio show that airs on KIIS-FM in Los Angeles, E! News and American Idol would be making a "big NBC announcement" on this morning's TODAY show.  TODAY show executive producer Jim Bell tweeted the news Sunday night.

The announcement was expected to involve a new deal between Seacrest and NBC's new partner, Comcast's E!, where Seacrest has been since 2006. It is rumored that the deal will include some part time assignments on Today, and a role in the network's coverage of the upcoming London Olympics.

Since NBC Universal merged with Comcast, rumors have circulated that Seacrest was being considered for a bigger role in the expanded company. NBC entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt hinted in January that Seacrest was interested in producing scripted shows for the broadcast network and that he would like to see Seacrest doing interview specials for the network, similar to Barbara Walters specials on ABC.

However, last night, Seacrest tweeted that his visit to the NBC morning show was going to be postponed for health reasons. "I'm feeling a little pain from elbow surgery, doctors says no travel for a day, so see you on the Today show Wednesday am," he wrote.

Seacrest will have a hectic Wednesday. Immediately after appearing on TODAY, the host will have to fly back to Los Angeles for the live broadcast of Fox's  American Idol.
