His special "Stripped Down" tour offers intimate, solo performances with interactive multimedia and personal storytelling.

The McCoy Marquee Series presents Rick Springfield: Stripped Down at the Jeanne B. McCoy Community Center for the Arts (100 W. Dublin-Granville Rd., New Albany) on Friday, January 12, at 8 pm. Tickets are $36.50-$66.50 at the CAPA Ticket Center (39 E. State St.), all Ticketmaster outlets, and www.ticketmaster.com. To purchase tickets by phone, please call (614) 469-0939 or (800) 745-3000.

Over the past three decades, Rick Springfield has worn many hats as an entertainer and performer. The creator of some of the finest power-pop of the '80s, he's also an accomplished actor who most recently starred opposite Meryl Streep in the feature film Ricki and the Flash. On the small screen, Springfield gave a chameleonic performance as the creepy Dr. Pitlor in HBO's prestige drama "True Detective," and is earning great reviews for his portrayal of Lucifer on the CW hit "Supernatural." In 2014, he was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame placed just around the corner from his first US apartment after moving from Australia in 1971.

Never one to be confined to the recording studio, Springfield has toured for more than 30 years, hand-delivering the hits to millions of fans worldwide via his dynamic live shows. His concerts are legendary with their rock heavy, high-energy, full band sets. However, in the fall of 2013, Springfield felt it was time to expand his live performance options. Hence, the solo "Stripped Down" tour was created to bring an intimate yet still lively performance to fans. The singer incorporates personal stories about his music and life into the show to truly connect with his audience. The "Stripped Down" tour gives Springfield a chance to perform some of his favorite songs that he has written over the years that never quite fit into full band sets.
