According to the NY Post, talk show host Regis Philbin is considering the possiblity of hosting a prime time talent competition on network TV.  The talk show host was the original emcee of NBC's 'America's Got Talent'.

Philbin, who only last week retired from co-hosting the morning talk show 'Live! With Regis and Kelly' has just formed a Production Company along with director Barry Glazer and executive producers Edward Walson and Cort Cassidy.  Philbin told Page 6 of the Post, “We’re contemplating a show that is sort of a talent show, but it involves the whole family, a family competition, which is something new in our business. It’s going to be on prime time when it happens.”

Continued Philbin, “[An] entertainment type of show would appeal to me. Almost a variety show. In our business you don’t want to say variety because it’s frowned upon now, but something with people who are performing.”

After a heartfelt send off on last week's 'Live', Philbin has maintained that his decsion to leave his long time post on the morning chat fest was purely a business decsion.  “It wasn’t that ABC didn’t try to negotiate with me. As it happens in this business, sometimes you don’t really like the terms so you just walk away with that in mind.”
