Disney will open the Japanese-language version with English subtitles this November in New York and LA. The dubbed version will hit a selection of theaters on February 21 before expanding.

The producers also announced at TIFF that this will supposedly be Miyazaki's last film. Miyazaki won the Oscar for his 2003 Animated Feature Spirited Away, which was followed by 2004's Howl's Moving Castle and Ponyo in 2008. In between, he has helmed several short films.

The Wind Rises is a decade-spanning epic is inspired by the true stories of Jiro Horikoshi, visionary designer of the famed Zero fighter and the poet Tatsuo Hori, whose verses are brought to life by the vivid animation of Studio Ghibli.
