Paul Bettany in Talks to Take Over the Role of Prince Philip on The Crown

Vulture has reported that Paul Bettany is in talks to take over the role of Prince Philip in The Crown.

Entertainment reporter Baz Bamigboye has reported that there is "No deal yet but the talks are ongoing."

Two cast members have been confirmed for the upcoming season of the Netflix drama. Olivia Colman is set to play Queen Elizabeth, and Helena Bonham Carter will be taking over the role of Princess Margaret.

No further details have been confirmed about Bettany's casting.

The Crown is a historical drama television series, created and principally written by Peter Morgan and produced by Left Bank Pictures and Sony Pictures Television for Netflix. The show is a biographical story about the reign of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom.

Paul Bettany is an English actor known for his voice role as J.A.R.V.I.S. and the Visionin the Marvel Cinematic Universe, specifically the films Iron Man (2008), Iron Man 2 (2010), The Avengers (2012), Iron Man 3 (2013), Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), and Captain America: Civil War (2016). He has gone on to appear in a wide variety of films, including A Beautiful Mind (2001), Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (2003), Dogville (2003), Wimbledon (2004), and the adaptation of the novel The Da Vinci Code (2006). He has been nominated for various awards, including BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role and a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.
