EW writes that Paul Reubens will be a long way from his 'Pee-wee Herman" roots when he takes on a two-episode arc in THE BLACKLIST Season 2 on NBC.

Reubens will portray 'Mr. Vargas', described as "a dapper, finicky 'muscle' who handles delicate situations in the criminal underworld".

Executive Producer Jon Bokenkamp commented on the casting: "We're forgoing the bow tie and the bicycle, and it's going to be something totally different, and it's gonna be awesome. It can't get strange enough for me. One of the most fun things is being able to write for actors who I've admired and think are interesting and try to play against expectations. I think this will be a fun one. I'd say he's gonna shake things up a bit when he enters Red's orbit."

Best known as "Pee-wee Herman", star of the long-running children's series Pee-wee's Playhouse, Reubens has appeared on TV in everything from Buffy the Vampire Slayer to Murphy Brown, Hercules, Everybody Loves Raymond, 30 Rock, Dirt, Pushing Daisies, SNL and more.

THE BLACKLIST stars James Spader, Megan Boone, Ryan Eggold, Diego Klattenhoff and Harry Lennix. Jon Bokenkamp ("The Call," "Taking Lives"), John Eisendrath ("Alias"), John Davis ("Predator," "I, Robot," "Chronicle") and John FOX serve as executive producers. THE BLACKLIST is a production of Sony Pictures Television and Davis Entertainment.
