Ovation to Present Day-Long 'Pardon Our French' Bastille Day Programming Today

In celebration of Bastille Day, July 14, and the upcoming US premiere of the highly anticipated drama series Versailles, Ovation TV is turning its airwaves French with one swift Voila! "Pardon Our French!," Ovation's day-long programming event, will feature French-themed films, documentaries and exclusive previews and behind-the-scenes footage from Versailles.

"Pardon Our French!" will kick off with a series of documentaries about the rise and fall of the French monarchy, and the building of Versailles, the opulent royal palace which has become a symbol of monarchical power and excess. In the afternoon and evening, Ovation will give viewers a tour of France via a series of feature films. Here is a snapshot of the day's schedule:

8 am ET and 12 pm ET - The Real Versailles (documentary)

9 am ET - The Rise and Fall of Versailles, Part 1: Louis XIV, The Dream of a King (documentary)

10 am ET - The Rise and Fall of Versailles, Part 2: Louis XV, The Palace of Pleasure (documentary)

11 am ET - The Rise and Fall of Versailles, Part 3: Louis XVI, Versailles: Countdown to Revolution (documentary)

1 pm and 7:30 pm ET - Le Divorce, starring Kate Hudson and Naomi Watts. French vs. American social customs and behaviors are observed in a story about an American visiting her Frenchman-wed sister in Paris in this film directed by James Ivory.

3:30 pm and 10 pm ET - Before Sunrise, starring Julie Delpy and Ethan Hawke. Written and directed by Richard Linklater, this is the first of a film trilogy that follows Jesse, an American man, and Celine, a French woman, who meet on a train in Europe and wind up spending one evening together in Vienna.

5:30 pm and 12am ET - Before Sunset, starring Julie Delpy and Ethan Hawke. Written by Julie Delpy, Ethan Hawke and Richard Linklater, and directed by Richard Linklater, this film picks up nine years after the first as Celine and Jesse encounter each other again on the French leg of Jesse's book tour.

In addition, throughout the day, The Art Of: Versailles interstitials will provide viewers a unique behind-the-scenes look at the making of Ovation's groundbreaking series with additional insights shared via The Most Incredible Facts About Versailles trivia pods. It all crescendos as viewers are treated to an exclusive sneak peek of Versailles with never-before-seen footage.
