Hyde Park-Image Nation and Troika Pictures have announced that actor-singer Nick Jonas will star as the male lead opposite Isabel Lucas in the edgy thriller "Careful What You Wish For." The film is directed by Elizabeth Allen ("The Vampire Diaries," "Aquamarine") and written by Chris Frisina and Gregg Hurwitz. "Careful What You Wish For" will be the Grammy-nominated musician's first lead acting role in a feature film. Jonas made his Broadway debut in the lead role of 2011's revival of HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING.

In the story, Doug (Jonas) gets more than he bargained for when he starts having an affair with Lena (Lucas), the young wife of an investment banker renting the lake house next door for the summer. The husband's suspicious death reveals a substantial life insurance policy. The central roles of Sheriff "Big Jack," and Insurance Investigator "Alvarez" are yet to be cast. Everyone is suspect in this edgy thriller reminiscent of "Basic Instinct" and "Body Heat."

Robert L. Stein, Michael A. Helfant and Bradley Gallo for Troika Pictures ("The Call") and Ashok Amritraj for Hyde Park ("Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance 3D," "Machete") will produce along with Kirk D'Amico. The film will commence principal photography on April 22, 2013 in Charlotte, North Carolina. Stuart Brown, Raj Singh and Kevin Frakes will Exec-Produce for Merced Media Partners, William Gallo and Dale Rosenbloom will Executive Produce with Phillip Cohen as Co-Executive Producer for Troika Pictures. Hyde Park International represents the International Rights.

"Careful What You Wish For" has already been sold to Square One for Germany, Swen for Latin America, Grandview for Eastern Europe, Phars for the Middle East, Aqua Pinema for Turkey, Lusomundo for Portugal, Ster Kinekor for South Africa and PT Amero for Indonesia.
