New Director Named for Queen Biopic BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY Following Bryan Singer Firing

EW reports that Dexter Fletcher has been named the new director of the upcoming Queen biopic BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY following the firing of Bryan Singer. Production on the film is expected to resume next week.

The X-MEN helmer was terminated due to an extended absence from the London film set that caused a production shutdown. While Singer disputed that account, he did acknowledge that there were "creative differences" but explained that he that he had to "return to the U.S. to deal with pressing health matters concerning one of my parents." He added, "This was a very taxing experience, which ultimately took a serious toll on my own health. Unfortunately, the studio was unwilling to accommodate me and terminated my services."

Fletcher is an English actor and filmmaker. His directing credits include EDDIE THE EAGLE, SUNSHINE ON LEITH and WILD BILL, while his acting credits include KICK-ASS and TWO SMOKING BARRELS.

BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY is scheduled to hit theaters on Christmas Day 2018.
