According to EWonline, the ABC network has announced plans to adapt Judith Krantz' 1978 novel SCRUPLES into a potential drama series.

Krantz' son Tony, who is a former CAA agent who now works as a successful producer and director will be behind the project along with actress Natalie Portman, who will act as executive producer. This will mark Portman's first go around as a series producer.

The best-selling novel told the story of Wilhelmina Hunnewell Winthrop, also known as Billy, who transforms herself from a heavy unattractive woman to a slender, beautiful bombshell. After Billy outlives her first wealthy husband she goes on to open a successful Beverly Hills clothing boutique called 'Scruples'.

Bob Brush and Mell Harris will pen the script which will be produced through Warner Brothers. The studio had previously developed a 'Scruples' miniseries back in 1980 which starred actress Lindsey Wagner.
