Nat Geo WILD's Live Safari Stream Follows Lions Stalking & More
By: Caryn Robbins
Last month NAT GEO WILD embarked on a three-month in Kruger National Park in AFRICA for Safari Live, bringing viewers a live safari from the heart of AFRICA in real time. On Sunday, Nov. 30, our cameras captured incredible footage of a coalition of five lions stalking and taking down a baby buffalo in the Djuma Game Reserve. A battle ensued between the lions and buffalo herd as they desperately tried to rescue their little one, but the lions won in the end.
Viewers joining the webcast via WILDSafariLive.com and live broadcast on NAT GEO WILD saw the entire event unfold on the network's live stream coverage of Safari Live. They were transfixed by one of the most primal and powerful scenes in all of nature. Look below to view the lion takedown clip: "There are guides who have been working in AFRICA for 15 years who have never seen action like this," said Geoff Daniels, executive vice president and general manager of Nat Geo WILD. "Hunting scenes from the African wild usually takes weeks or months of filming to capture, which makes this live footage all the more compelling. It proves how experienced our SAFARI LIVE guides are at finding the action - no viewer should miss this experience. You never know what you're going to see next." Safari Live is available online every morning beginning at 9 a.m. ET and at 11 p.m. ET until Jan. 31, 2015.
