The New York Post is "calling" American Idol this season. It is announcing that Adam Lambert is the odds-on favorite to be the next "American Idol."

Oddsmakers from Latin American to London for the first time this week have made the show-stopping crooner such a prohibitive favorite to win this year's "Idol" that a $1 bet on him will pay only 80 cents reports the Post. To read the Post take on Lambert's chances, click here.

On last Wednesday's results show, Lambert was once again voted through, making him a member of the show's Top 8.

The judges were all positive in their feedback after his performance on Tuesday, if a bit less efusive than during the last performance episode. Paula remarked, quite passionately, that he was pure genius and compared him to Mick Jagger and Steven Tyler.

Simon said it was original even though it might not have been as good as past performances. Randy was energized as he said that Lambert worked it out and is definitely in the star zone. Kara said that she can't wait to see what he's going to do every week and that it was like Studio 57.

The Tuesday performance episode had Lambert once again bringing the house down and the audience to its feet with his high-wire performance of Wild Cherry's "Play That Funky Music", leaving the crowd in awe. Lambert soared with the song, thanks to a special vocal arrangement that highlighted his thrilling octaves.

Lambert is clearly stand out this season, the young Los Angeles based singer, who is a member of the top 8 finalists, had the audience in the palm of his hand a couple weeks ago, earning a standing ovation for his swooning performance of "The Tracks of My Tears."

"Idol" guest artist mentor Smokey Robinson, who originally performed the classic song with the Miracles, jumped to his feet after watching the 26-year-old former thesp hit all the right notes during last week's Motown-themed installment of the "Fox" singing competition.

Lambert, shed his wild rocker duds for a snazzy and sleek silver suit and smoothed his black hair back into an Elvis-style pompadour. A some time critic of Lambert, judge Simon Cowell said the singer delivered the night's best performance and "became a star in his eyes". Fellow judge Kara Dioguardi agreed, saying Lambert showed "true artistry."

In addition to performing in WICKEDAdam Lambert also had a role in The Ten Commandments and appeared in The Zodiac Show.

On the March 17, country edition of Idol, Lambert sang 'Ring of Fire'. The dynamic Lambert will be part of the show's summer concert tour.

Lambert performed 'Black and White' on the March 10 edition of the show and was voted through to the show's next week. He previously gave the Rolling Stones classic 'Satisfaction' a soaring spin on the February 25th of Idol and was voted through to become one of the top 12 finalists in the results show that aired February 26th on Fox.

AMERICAN IDOL is created and executive-produced by Simon Fuller, founder of 19 Entertainment; and executive-produced by Cecile Frot-Coutaz, CEO, FremantleMedia North America; and Ken Warwick, Executive Producer, FremantleMedia North America.
