According to the Hollywood Reporter, a sequel has been greenlit for the surprise hit of the summer, Louis Leterrier's 'Now You See Me.' Lionsgate, who distributed the film through its subsidiary Summit Entertainment, predicted that the worldwide gross for the film would surpass $275 million dollars.

To date, the film has pulled in $115.6 million dollars domestically and $119.3 million dollars in the international markets. It is sure to benefit from the Chinese, Australian and Japanese revenue where the film has yet to open.

Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer said 'This is a perfect example of how we're benefiting from the unique international infrastructure of output deals, joint ventures and self-distribution we've set in place to maximize value and minimize risk,'

Felteheimer is correct in his analysis, with grosses in Russia and Latin America exceeding the expectations of the studio.

Summt Entertainment has yet to confirm whether a screenwriter has been attached to write the sequel to the summer smash hit.

'Now You See Me' arrived in theaters on May 31. Directed by Louis Leterrier, the crime thriller also stars Jesse Eisenberg, Isla Fisher, Woody Harrelson, Mark Ruffalo, Michael Caine and Common.

'Now You See Me' pits an elite FBI squad in a game of cat and mouse against "The Four Horsemen," a super-team of the world's greatest illusionists. "The Four Horsemen" pull off a series of daring heists against corrupt business leaders during their performances, showering the stolen profits on their audiences while staying one step ahead of the law.
