NFL Hispanic Heritge Weekend Set for Telemundo & NBC Universo


An exciting weekend of NFL football is on the way at NBC Deportes: "Celebrando la Herencia Hispana" begins with a special show on Saturday, September 26 at 3:30PM/2:30C on Telemundo and continues with the Denver Broncos vs. the Detroit Lions game on Sunday the 27th at 8PM/7C/5P on NBC UNIVERSO.

The one-hour special "Celebrando la Herencia Hispana," hosted by Leti Coo, Karim Mendiburu and as special guest, former Arizona Cardinals player Rolando Cantú, will feature interviews and reports about Hispanics in the world of professional football, including:

An interview with Roberto Garza, Chicago Bears former player whose parents were born in Mexico.
An interview with Víctor Cruz, New York Giants player whose mother is Puerto Rican.

An interview with the Denver Broncos' Louis Vázquez, who is of Mexican descent, and Max García.
NBC Deportes reporter Fabiola Zamorán travels to Mexico - one of the countries with the biggest NFL following besides the United States - to see the conditions young football fans in the poor municipality of Ciudad Nezahualcóyotl must overcome to play the sport they love. She also talks with Alondra Salinas, a girl who competes alongside the boys and is, they say, the roughest player on the team.

Interview with Gavin Escobar, Puerto Rican Dallas Cowboys player.

NBC Deportes' Daniela Rodríguez interviews Cairo Santos of the Kansas City Chiefs, whose ancestry is Brazilian.
"Titulares y Más" host Karim Mendiburu and Miami Dolphins defensive end Olivier Vernon get together to cook a Latin feast featuring churrasco, rice and beans, and other classics.

Francisco Cuevas presents an interview with Hugo Cruz, a Hispanic NFL referee.

On Sunday, September 27, NBC Deportes will wrap up the celebration of Hispanic heritage on NBC UNIVERSO with the Denver Broncos vs. the Detroit Lions, at 8PM/7C/5P, live from Detroit's Ford Field. The game will be narrated entirely in Spanish by veteran sportscaster René Giraldo, with commentary by the charismatic Edgar López and Verónica Contreras on the sideline. and social media sites will feature 360 coverage of the events to share the color and excitement of the pre-game tailgating parties, minute-by-minute updates of the action on the field, and extensive coverage of fans' preparations for and antics during the game. All NBC Deportes social platforms will be synchronized with the game and its celebration of Hispanic heritage.
