NBC's AMERICAN NINJA WARRIOR Sets Season High

" American Ninja Warrior" (1.7/5 in 18-49, 5.4 million viewers overall from 9-11 p.m. ET) equaled its highest 18-49 rating since June 2 (1.9)and set a season high in total viewers for a regular telecast (best since a special "USA vs. Japan" edition on Jan. 13, 5.537 million). "Ninja" grew consistently through its four half-hours with this track in 18-49: 1.4, 1.6, 1.8, 1.9, for a gain of +36% from its first half-hour to its fourth. In total viewers, "Ninja" grew from its first half-hour to its fourth by +31% or more than 1.4 million persons (to 6.1 million from 4.6 million).

"American Ninja Warrior" ranked #1 for its fourth and final half-hour among ABC, CBS and NBC in 18-49 over CBS's "Under the Dome" (with a 1.9 rating from 10:30-11 p.m. ET vs. a 1.8 for "Dome"). For its second hour from 10-11 p.m., "Ninja" ranked #2 among those nets in adults 18-49, within a tenth of a rating points of "Dome" (with a 1.8 from 10-11 p.m. vs. a 1.9 for "Dome"). For that 10-11 p.m. hour, "Ninja" ranked #1 among those nets and ahead of "Dome" in adults, men and women 18-34.

Note that last week's "American Ninja Warrior" tied for #1 for the week on the Big 4 in men 18-49 and tied for #2 among men 18-34 and teens 12-17.

An encore telecast of "Last Comic Standing" averaged a 0.7/2 in 18-49 and 2.9 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET.


In Late-Night Metered Markets Monday Night:

In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 2.7/7; CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman," 2.2/6; and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 1.6/4 with an encore.

In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 1.1/5; "Late Show," 0.4/2; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.5/3 with an encore.

From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.0/3 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.2/4 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.0/4). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.5/3 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.2/2).

At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.7/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.3/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


For the Week:

NBC has tied for #1 for the Primetime week of July 7-13 among the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49, despite running no original episodes of the summer's top-rated series, "America's Got Talent," last week

The tie for #1 extends NBC's streak of finishing #1 or tied for #1 among ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX for all eight weeks since the close of the traditional season in May, excluding ABC during its two weeks covering the NBA Finals. According to "live plus same day" viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research, NBC averaged a 1.1 rating, 4 share in adults 18-49 and 4.6 million viewers overall for the week.

Finishing among the week's top 30 Primetime programs on ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX were NBC's "America's Got Talent" encore on Tuesday (tied for #6), Monday's "American Ninja Warrior" (tied for #6), a Wednesday "Talent" encore (tied for #11), Tuesday's "The Night Shift" (tied for #17) and Friday's "Dateline NBC" (tied for #26).

"American Ninja Warrior" tied for #1 for the week on the Big 4 in men 18-49 and tied for #2 among men 18-34 and teens 12-17.

The five regular original telecasts of "Talent" so far this summer have generated the top five 18-49 and total-viewer results among all entertainment broadcasts on the Big 4 networks since the end of the May sweep.

Through 42 weeks of the 2013-14 broadcast year, NBC ranks #1 among ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX in adults 18-49, adults 25-54, adults 18-34 (tied with Fox), men 18-49 (tied with Fox), men 25-54 and all key adult-female demos. It's the first time NBC has ranked #1 in adults 18-49 at this point in the season in 10 years (since the 2003-04 season).

NBC's 2.5 rating in adults 18-49 is the network's top average at this point in the season in four years (since a 2.5 in 2009-10).

Versus one year ago, NBC is up +14% for the broadcast year to date in adults 18-49 (2.5 vs. 2.2).

In total viewers, NBC ranks #2 for the broadcast year with an average of 8.6 million viewers, which is its biggest overall audience 42 weeks into the season in eight years (since 2005-06, 9.2 million). Versus one year ago, NBC is up +27% season to date in total viewers (8.6 million vs. 6.8 million). It's the first time NBC has ranked #2 in total viewers at this point in the season in 10 years.
