NBCSN to Air 6 Hours of MLS Coverage this Weekend

BCSN presents six hours of MLS coverage, beginning on Friday evening with a new episode of MLS Insider. This Friday's show features the emotional story of New England Revolution goalkeeper Matt Reis and his family's experience at the 2013 Boston Marathon at 7:30 p.m. ET, and will be followed by the Western Conference match between two playoff-bound clubs, Portland Timbers vs. Real Salt Lake, at 10 p.m. ET. Saturday's coverage begins at 7:30 p.m. ET with a new MLS 36 featuring New York Red Bulls' midfielder Dax McCarty and the New York Red Bulls hosting rivals D.C. COMMENTATORS: Play-by-play announcer JP Dellacamera alongside analyst Brian Dunseth, and 'Between-the-Benches' reporter Sebastian Salazar will call the Portland Timbers-Real Salt Lake match on Friday from Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah. NBC Sports Group's lead MLS play-by-play announcer John Strong will be joined by analyst Robbie Mustoe and host Russ Thaler for D.C. United-New York Red Bulls on Saturday from Red Bulls Stadium in Harrison, N.J.
John Strong on D.C. United vs. New York Red Bulls: "When two big rivals like this meet, it's really all you need to say. In addition, as tight as both conferences are, we're getting to a stage in the MLS season where every game is huge. New York has the stars to be one of the MLS Cup favorites, but they have to prove it against a DC team whose youth movement has changed the mentality for [D.C. United coach] Ben Olson's side. It should be a great game."
MLS INSIDER: This week's episode of MLS Insider highlights New England Revolution goalkeeper and four-time MLS All-Star Matt Reis and his heroic actions at the 2013 Boston Marathon that saved the life of John Odom, his father-in-law.
In addition, the 60-minute episode takes a closer look at San Jose Earthquakes players Steven Lenhart and Alan Gordon, commonly known as "The Bash Brothers" for their controversial, physical play. Plus, 30 Rock star, comedian and "World Champion" Judah Friedlander hosts the segment "MLS Storytime Theatre" and the best and worst moments of the MLS season so far.
