Kevin Spacey will be honored by Museum of the Moving Image at its 28th annual Salute on April 9, 2014 in New York City. The news was announced today by Herbert S. Schlosser, Co-Chairman of the Museum's Board of Trustees, and Carl Goodman, the Museum's Executive Director.

Spacey joins the ranks of past honorees who have received the Museum's Salute, including Clint Eastwood, Tom Hanks, Tom Cruise, Robert DeNiro, Goldie Hawn, Alec Baldwin, Dustin Hoffman, Hugh Jackman, Steve Martin, Al Pacino, Sidney Poitier, Jimmy Stewart, Julia Roberts, Martin Scorsese, and Steven Spielberg.

The evening will include tributes by a stellar group of Spacey's friends and colleagues, accompanied by notable scenes from his films, leading up to the presentation of the award to the honoree.

Schlosser stated, "Kevin Spacey is one of our culture's most exciting performers. He has proven his talent and versatility in a wide range of memorable and award-winning roles, and is also an accomplished executive producer and director. This is a great time to be honoring him."

Kevin Spacey's memorable screen roles include his Oscar-winning performances in American Beauty (1999) (Best Actor) and The Usual Suspects (1995) (Best Supporting Actor), and acclaimed performances in L.A. Spacey's production company Trigger Street Productions has produced multiple award-winning movies for film and television. He currently serves as executive producer and stars as Francis Underwood, the beguiling, charismatic, and ruthless politician, in the Netflix original series House of Cards. He was nominated for an Emmy, Screen Actors Guild, and Golden Globe award as Best Actor in a Drama Series. The company recently released the Golden Globe and Oscar nominated film Captain Phillips, starring Tom Hanks; The Social Network, which won a Golden Globe for Best Picture and received multiple Academy Award nominations; as well as the feature 21.

In addition to his roles for the screen, Spacey is a celebrated stage performer and producer. He won a Tony for Lost in Yonkers (1991), and a Tony nomination for The Iceman Cometh (1999), and has been the Artistic Director of The Old Vic Theatre in London since 2004.
