According to The Hollywood Reporter, former ICARLY star Miranda Cosgrove has signed on to co-star in NBC's upcoming comedy pilot, written by Suzanne Martin.

The project "centers on a couple of recent empty-nesters whose plans backfire when their two adult daughters move back home.

Cosgrove is cast as the younger daughter, Shea, who has a doctorate in astrophysics and wants to be an astronaut, yet she is slightly socially awkward."

Before launching her musical career, Cosgrove perfected her acting skills, making her film debut in the 2003 comedy School of Rock and starring in the Nickelodeon sitcoms Drake and Josh (2004-2007) and iCarly (2007-present). The iCarly theme song, "Leave It All To Me," became an online sensation upon its release and led Cosgrove to be named one of MTV's Female Pop Rookies in 2009. In 2010 the young starlet released her debut album, Sparks Fly, which peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard 200.

Her career continues to blossom with the release of her 2011 EP, High Maintenance, which MTV said "could elevate Cosgrove to a whole new level in the pop world.
