Miramax to Produce SILENT RETREAT with Todd Strauss-Schulson and Matt Fogel

Miramax is joining forces with Todd Strauss-Schulson (ISN'T IT ROMANTIC/THE FINAL GIRLS) and Matt Fogel (THE LEGO MOVIE 2: THE SECOND PART) on their next project, SILENT RETREAT. The film will be directed by Strauss-Schulson and was written by both Fogel and Strauss Schulson. Pre-production has started and it will shoot in late Spring/early Summer supervised by Matthew Anderson at Miramax.

Thomas and Gillian are having relationship issues. Thomas's best friend Eric, and his recently widowed mother, Wanda, aren't doing much better. The perfect solution? A meditation retreat that requires absolute silence for three days. Disaster ensues in what the filmmakers describe as "If Gus Van Sant and Buster Keaton made a silent comedy about wisdom, compassion, and the difficulties of digesting a tempeh-based diet."

"Matt and Todd (who are best friends) have a new best friend in Miramax, a company who is bold and creatively supportive. We're mostly just thrilled that someone believed in us enough to give us money to make a silent comedy about meditation," said filmmakers Todd Strauss-Schulson and Matt Fogel.

"We are really excited to go on this creative journey with Matt and Todd who share such a unique vision. Both filmmakers have shown extraordinary comedic talents that we are so happy to be joining forces with," said Miramax CEO Bill Block and Matthew Anderson, VP of Production and Development.
