Meghan McCain Named New Co-Host of ABC's THE VIEW

Variety reports that Meghan McCain has been named the newest co-host of ABC's THE VIEW. The news follows the recent abrupt departure of co-host Jedidiah Bila. McCain will start her new hosting duties in early October, joining current hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sara Haines, Paula Faris, and Sunny Hostin. ABC has not confirmed the report.

McCain is the daughter of U.S. Senator and 2008 presidential nominee John McCain. While a self-described Republican, she is has often supported liberal views on important social issues. The former Fox News contributor will be one of several hosts taking a seat at the panel. Sherri Shepherd, Rosie O'Donnell, Nicolle Wallace, Rosie Perez, Raven Symone, Michelle Collins, and Candace Cameron Bure, are among the many celebrities who have hosted the daytime talk show.

"The View" is a live, one-hour daily talk show in which real women discuss everyday issues, share their opinions and engage in colorful conversations. The show is the recipient of 29 Daytime Emmy® Awards, numerous Daytime Emmy Award nominations, including 11 consecutive nominations for Outstanding Talk Show and 13 consecutive nominations for Outstanding Talk Show Host.
