USA Today reports that Meg Ryan has signed on to star as the narrator for the How I Met Your Mother spin-off to be titled HOW I MET YOUR DAD. The voice-over role will serve as the future version of the show's main character Sally, to be played by Greta Gerwig. Bob Saget voiced the role of the narrator in the original CBS series which signed off the air last month.

The role marks the first time the rom-com actress will take on a role as a series regular in Primetime television.

Ryan played the lead female role in When Harry Met Sally. Over the next 15 years, she played leading roles in several romantic-comedy films, including Sleepless in Seattle (1993), French Kiss (1995), Addicted to Love (1997), City of Angels(1998), You've Got Mail (1998), and Kate & Leopold (2001), films which together grossed a total of more than $870 million worldwide.
