According to Access Hollywood, TODAY show anchorman Matt Lauer has officially retired the popular annual segment 'Where in the World is Matt Lauer?". After spanning the globe for 10 years, Lauer revealed to Access Hollywood's Billy Bush that he is ready to take a break from the popular travel series.  "You know, 10 sounds like a better number to end on than nine did," said Lauer "I think we've had a great time. We've been to 51 places... around the world."

Lauer did hint that the break from the series may not be permanent however.  "...if we're not completely done with it, we're certainly going to rest it for a good long while and maybe revisit it with a twist at some future date." the newsman told Bush.

The 10th installment of the show ended just last Friday.  Lauer spent the week globe-hopping from Spain, Malaysia, Switzerland, Namibia and Barbados.

NBC's TODAY launched more than 55 years ago, with Dave Garroway as host. The live broadcast provides the latest in domestic and international news, weather reports and interviews with newsmakers from the worlds of politics, business, media, entertainment and sports. After more than 48 years of the standard two-hour format, the third hour was launched in October of 2000, followed by the fourth hour in September 2007, making Today the only four-hour hour national morning show broadcast.
