This afternoon, Star Wars star, Mark Hamill took to Twitter to retract an earlier statement he had made critiquing the characterization of Luke Skywalker in the box office smash, Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
Writing this afternoon, he tweeted:
I regret voicing my doubts & insecurities in public.Creative differences are a common element of any project but usually remain private. All I wanted was to make good movie. I got more than that- @rianjohnson made an all-time GREAT one! #HumbledHamill https://t.co/8ujJfBuEdV

In his previous statement, Hamill expressed some doubts he had about a new direction for hero, Luke Skywalker, a character he has made famous since the 1970's. Some fans echoed Hamill's sentiments online.
Speaking to iMDB, the actor said, "I've had trouble accepting what [Rian Johnson] saw for Luke but again, I mean, I have to say, having seen the movie I was wrong. I think being pushed out of your comfort zone is a good thing because if I was just another benevolent Jedi training young padawans, we've seen it!"
He also expressed difficulty playing the character in this new direction, stating, "I almost had to think of Luke as another character. Maybe he's Jake Skywalker - he's not my Luke Skywalker."
