Mara Brock, Salim Akil to Create SINGLE BLACK FEMALE Pilot for BET

As first reported on Deadline.com, the BET network has given the 'go-ahead' for a pilot from Mara Brock and Salim Akil entitled SINGLE BLACK FEMALE. The husband and wife team are also behind the network's successful comedy series 'The Game'.

The hour-long pilot will center on "the work and family life of a Black woman who is the host of a popular Atlanta-based talk show host in the vein of The Ellen Degeneres Show."

Mara Brock Akil recently penned the script for the upcoming film 'Sparkle' starring Jordin Sparks and the late Whitney Houston. The film will now mark the final acting peformance of the superstar. The film was directed by Akil and is slated for an August release.

Akil also directed the popular comedy film 'Jumping the Broom'.
