MTV2 today announced that it achieved its highest-rated quarter in its nearly 20-year history during Q1 of 2015, extending its streak of seven consecutive quarters of year over year growth. MTV2's first quarter success was driven by original hit series "Guy Code" and "Nick Cannon Presents: Wild 'N Out," each of which was watched by more than 15 million viewers in their recently wrapped seasons. Showing no signs of slowing down, the network kicked off Q2 with new improv comedy series "MTV2's Joking Off," which premiered April 1 as the No. 1 show in its time period for Teens and Male Teens.
To continue the network's rise, MTV2 today also announced a pilot order for a reinvented "Celebrity Deathmatch" and greenlit two new series: a topical, weekly show titled "Uncommon Sense with Charlamagne tha God" and a new series starring rapper and cultural lightning rod Tyga dubbed "Kingin' with Tyga." "After scoring our highest-rated quarter in history and continuing seven straight quarters of growth, MTV2 continues to outpunch its weight class," said Chris McCarthy, General Manager of MTV2 and Logo TV. "From the anticipated return of 'Celebrity Deathmatch' to our newest hit series 'MTV2's Joking Off,' we continue to deliver resonate content that drives record viewership." MTV2's pilot order and series greenlights include: "Celebrity Deathmatch" (pilot order): the classic animated series returns, featuring no-holds barred fantasy fights between infamous figures from the worlds of entertainment and pop culture, reimagined for a world of social media and hourly Twitter wars. "Celebrity Deathmatch" is produced by Wasteland Entertainment, Inc. Eric Fogel is the original series creator and serves as executive producer.
