MINDY PROJECT Nabs Joseph Gordon-Levitt for Season 4's 'Alternate Reality' Husband

BuzzFeed News reports exclusively that Joseph Gordon-Levitt has signed on to guest star in the Season 4 premiere of THE MINDY PROJECT.

The episode will be based on 1998's romantic comedy Sliding Doors and will feature an alternate-reality version of Mindy Lahiri's (Kaling) life. In the sci-fi inspired show, Mindy will no longer be involved with Chris Messina's Danny Castellano, but instead will be married to Gordon-Levitt's character Matt, described as "a suave reality show producer for Bravo."

The episode will mark a reunion of sorts - 'Mindy Project's Kaling and Messina guest-starred in the Season 2 premiere of Gordon-Levitt's Pivot series, Hit Record.

As previously reported, The Mindy Project, which FOX canceled in May, was later picked up by Hulu for a 26-episode run later this year.
