While scripted television shows such as Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice might draw the types of audiences that enjoy the high stakes drama that accompanies the medical lifestyle, it's the Reality Show genre that is rolling out the welcome mat into the real lives of doctors.

Thanks to Mariah Huq, the mastermind, producer, and star of the upcoming reality series MARRIED TO MEDICINE, television audiences will get a peek into the real lives of doctors both in and out of their lab coats. Premiering early spring on Bravo, the show will take viewers inside the lives of prominent Atlanta physicians and their families.

Being touted as Bravo's new queen bee, Mariah was once courted to be part of the highly rated "The Real Housewives of Atlanta." But with catch phrases like "yaaasss" and an over-the-top personality, producers realized she had the "it" factor to star in her own franchise. With talents in front and behind the camera, this mother of two is a force to be reckoned with. She is also a busy entrepreneur as Chief Operating Officer of Jewel and Jem, a children's bedding and pajama line launching into multiple department stores this year.

The show will also explore the real issues experienced by an interracial couple, whose dynamic personalities cause interesting situations. Mariah's husband, Dr. Aydin Huq, is a Bangladeshi Muslim. A top ER doctor with two prestigious medical groups, he is a colorful personality in his own right, living by the "work hard, play harder" motto.

Huq attributes perseverance into bringing her dream alive. "The show deals with real issues. I wanted to show the world that doctors are not sterile robots!" she said. After pitching the show concept for several years to industry heavyweights such as Russell Simmons and Stan Lathan, it was a meeting with Executive Producers Nate Green and Matt Anderson that ultimately led to the creation of the show. "Married to Medicine" is produced by FremantleMedia North America and Purveyors of Pop.
