Leonardo DiCaprio Medical Series Picked Up by HBO

According to Deadline.com, HBO has just bought the new drama series BEAT THE REAPER, after a competitive bidding war with other networks. The project comes from actor,producer Leonardo DiCaprio. The series is based on the novel by author Josh Bazell and tells the story of an emergency room doctor who finds himself involved with the mob. According to the report, four different networks were vying for the series before it came to HBO.

The project is being penned by writers Brian Koppelman and David Levien. It will be co-produced by New Regency, DiCaprio’s Appian Way and Rick Yorn’s LBI Entertainment.

DiCaprio received a 'Best Actor' Golden Globe nomination this morning for his performance in the film, 'J Edgar'.
