Lenny Wolpe (The Drowsy Chaperone, Wicked) and Neal Bledsoe ("SMASH", "Ugly Betty") have joined the cast of the new comedy pilot "This Just In: The Series" which begins production this week. The show surrounds a merry band of misfits at a low-rated small-town morning news show.

The show was created and written by Chris J. Handley ("Empire: The Series") and Maria Pendolino ("Army Wives", "Locked Up Abroad"). Handley and Pendolino will serve as Executive Producers for the pilot and have joined the cast as Phil, the incompetent weatherman and Libby, the harried news producer, respectively.

Wolpe will be playing Phil's Dad, the hapless station owner, and Bledsoe takes on the challenge of playing the rival anchor from the competing station, Chip Stewart.

Also joining the cast are Broadway veterans Halle Morse (Mamma Mia!) as Brenda, the fresh-faced new anchor who arrives at the station for her first day and Jenn Lyon (The Coast of Uptopia, "Louie") as Bledsoe's partner-in-crime, the sugary Suzie.

Completing the cast are Jack Garrity ("Sex And The City", "Days of Our Lives"), Danielle Gaines (The Berenstain Bears: Live) and Jake Paque ("Celebrity Ghost Stories").

The pilot episode will be directed by Isaac Klein (Gypsy revival with Patti LuPone, West Side Story revival).
