iVillage, the essential digital brand for women, announced today that Emmy Award-winning actress and mom Katherine Heigl will pen the next edition of its signature celebrity blog series, CelebVillage. As this month’s “blogger-in-residence,” Heigl will discuss her life as a mom, the decision to adopt, married life in Hollywood and the importance of pet spay/neuter and adoption, among other topics in four blog posts throughout January. Her first post, live today, focuses on being a working mom – read it here.

“CelebVillage is where some of today’s biggest stars in movies, TV and music write candidly and poignantly about their lives and share it with women and moms in the iVillage community,” said Serena Kappes, iVillage’s Entertainment Editorial Director. “We’re excited to have Katherine Heigl share her own personal story – as we know that these topics resonate with all women, whether you’re a famous actress or working mom.”

“Women today are balancing so many roles in their lives,” added Heigl. “I’m very glad that I can reach out to women by sharing my own experiences on iVillage. It’s reassuring to have that peer-to-peer support that only connecting with others in the same place can give.”

An Emmy Award winner and Golden Globe-nominated actress, Heigl stars in the forthcoming Lionsgate release, “One For The Money,” opening nationwide on January 27, 2012. She is also a producer on the film, which is based on the first novel in author Janet Evanovich’s wildly popular Stephanie Plum series. Heigl is best known for her starring roles in the feature films "The Ugly Truth," "27 Dresses" and "Knocked Up," as well as her portrayal of Dr. Isobel 'Izzie' Stevens in "Grey's Anatomy." Among her charitable endeavors, Heigl and her mother co-founded the Jason Debus Heigl Foundation, an organization dedicated to the promotion of pet adoption and the need for spay and neuter of companion pets. Heigl is married to singer-songwriter Josh Kelley and the couple has one child, daughter Nancy Leigh Mi-Eun. Heigl divides her time between homes in Los Angeles and rural Utah, where she resides with her family, seven dogs and three cats.
