Deadline reports exclusively that Julianne Moore may be cast in the role of President Alma Coin in Lionsgate upcoming Hunger Games sequel MOCKINGJAY. The film, to be helmed by Francis Lawrence, is based on Suzanne Collins popular book series.

According to the report, the role is described as "the manipulative politician who figures brightly in the finale as Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) becomes a symbol of rebellion against the autocratic Capitol government."

If the casting comes through, Moore would be featured in the final two films of the series along with Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth. Philip Seymour Hoffman, who debuts in the upcoming The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, will also appear in the final installments.

Moore recently picked up an Emmy Award for her portrayal of Sarah Palin in HBO's Game Change. She will soon be seen on the big screen in the upcoming reboot of Carrie, and will appear along with Jeff Bridges in Seventh Son for Warner Bros. Also on tap is Don Jon, co-starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Scarlett Johansson.
