Variety is reporting that producer John N. Hart, Jr. and Smuggler Partners Patrick Milling Smith and Brian Carmody have announced the launch of Smuggler Films LLC, a Production Company that has been created to produce film, theater and television.

Smuggler Films has been created to combine the experience of Evamere Entertainment, led by Hart, and Smuggler, led by Milling Smith and Carmody. The emphasis will be on "a creative home that allows artists the opportunity to work across all media to develop and produce content." Smuggler Films will keep offices in New York, Los Angeles and London.

"Partnering with Smuggler, with their roster of talented directors and their dedication to new media, places us in a unique position to support talent in the telling of their stories where they are best served," Hart told Variety.

In 2009, Smuggler Films plans to produce at least two feature films, workshop a new musical and launch a web series intended for cable TV. They plan to increase their slate next year and eventually move into co-financing and investing in other properties.

John Hart, a veteran independent producer, has produced over 15 feature films including "Revolutionary Road," "Boys Don't Cry," "You Can Count on Me," "Proof," and "Nicholas Nickelby."

In 2007, Hart formed Evamere Entertainment upon the dissolution of Hart Sharp. To read the entire article click here
