In an appearance on this morning's Today show from London, talk show host Jimmy Fallon spoke to Matt Lauer about recent reports that he will serve as the next host of the 2013 Academy Awards telecast.
During the interview, Fallon admitted that he had been offered the job but shared that it was not the right time in his career to take it on. Reports of Fallon's possible hosting duties first appeared in the Los Angeles Times last week.
Explained Fallon, "No, I'm not going to do the Oscars. It's an honor to be asked by the Academy, but it's not my year." Lauer responded to the revelation with disappointment, commenting, "that wasn't quite the note I was hoping to end on."
Fallon currently hosts Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, a late-night talk show that airs Monday through Friday on NBC. Prior to that he appeared in several films, and was best known as a cast member on Saturday Night Live from 1998–2004.
