In an interview published in today's UK's Metro, Glee star Jayma Mays spoke about her departure from the FOX musical drama series.

Mays has portrayed McKinley high school counselor Emma Pillsbury on the series since its debut. In the interview, the actress shared that her Exit was not her own decision. "It wasn't my choice," she said. "The creators decided to do it."

Yet Mays appears to have no hard feelings towards the creative team. "Some other characters will also be leaving this season. It's very sad to be going but I understand why they do it."

Speaking on the recent loss of her co-star Cory Monteith who died of an accidental drug overdose in July, Mays said, "It's been really hard. We just filmed his memorial episode and it was a very difficult thing to do. It's been a very sad and difficult year for everyone."

The good news for the actress is that her new sitcom, 'The Millers, in which she stars alongside Will Arnett, Beau Bridges and Margo Martindale, has just been given a full season order from the CBS network.

As they say in show biz - when one door closes, another one always opens!
