Jason Reitman is set to direct the next Ghostbusters film for Sony, according to Deadline. He's carrying on the legacy as THE SON of the original Ghostbusters director, Ivan Reitman.

The first teaser trailer was also released for the film today, and it featured the Ecto-1!

The new film will follow the original story, which was first released in 1984 and starred Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and the late Harold Ramis. The follow-up will be released in summer 2020.

This film is not associated with the 2016 film reboot which starred Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones and was directed by Paul Feig. The all-female reboot received mixed reviews and was considered a failure at the box office because of its high production cost.

The follow up of the original film was written by Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan and has been kept in secrecy until now.

Production begins on the film this summer and there is still no word if any of the original cast will be involved.
