Jason O'Mara Joins FOX's Travel Series 'Terra Nova'

Variety reports that Jason O'Mara has been cast as 'Jim Shannon,' the lead role in Fox's upcoming midseason drama 'Terra Nova.'

'Terra Nova,' an epic family adventure 85 million years in the making, is the new event drama slated for midseason from executive producers Steven Spielberg ('Jurassic Park,' 'The Pacific'), Peter Chernin, Brannon Braga ('24,' 'Star Trek: Enterprise') and David Fury ('24,' 'Lost'). The action-adventure series follows an ordinary family on an extraordinary journey back in time to prehistoric Earth as a part of a massive expedition to save the human race.

Jason O'Mara's theatre credits include THE HOMECOMING, bash (Gate Theatre Dublin), THE JEW OF MALTA (Almeida Theatre - directed by Michael Grandage), SCHOOL FOR SCANDAL (RSC) and POPCORN (Apollo Theatre). Now based in the US, his television work includes the joint series lead in the US version of 'Life on Mars,' 'Grey's Anatomy,' 'Trust Me,' 'Marlowe,' 'Men in Trees,' 'Criminal Minds,' 'Drift,' 'In Justice,' 'The Closer,' 'The Agency,' and 'Band of Brothers.'
