Jackman Stars in Academy Awards Trailer, Debuts on Movie Screens 2/13

Oscar-nominated writer-director John Singleton has directed the trailer promoting the 81st Academy Awards, Academy President Sid Ganis announced today.

Featuring Oscar telecast host Hugh Jackman, the trailers will run in more than 11,000 theaters around the country beginning Friday, February 13.

"The Oscars are a worldwide phenomenon," said Ganis. "I'm thrilled that John could work with us to create a powerful spot that will whet movie lovers appetites for a terrific show."

This year's Oscar campaign was developed by Omelet, a Los Angeles based creative and entertainment agency.

Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2008 will be presented on Sunday, February 22, 2009, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center®, and televised live by the ABC Television Network. The Oscar presentation also will be televised live in more than 200 countries worldwide.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is the world's preeminent movie-related organization, with a membership of more than 6,000 of the most accomplished men and women working in cinema.
