J.K. Rowling Reveals Which HARRY POTTER Character She Regrets Killing Off

By:

Throughout J.K. Rowling's beloved HARRY POTTER books, many of the series fictional characters met their deaths in unfortunate ways. Until now, the author has maintained that killing them off was essential in order to move the story forward.

Today, MTV News reports that there was one minor character who Rowling now regrets setting up a fate with the grim reaper.

Said the author on Pottermore of "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban's" Florean Fortescue: "I seemed to have him kidnapped and killed for no good reason. He is not the first wizard whom Voldemort murdered because he knew too much (or too little), but he is the only one I feel guilty about, because it was all my fault."

According to the report, the character was originally slated to play a bigger part in the final "Harry Potter" book, but that role was taken over by a portrait of Phineas Nigellus Black. As a result, Fortescue was never rescued from his kidnapping and ultimate mortality.
