Delivering the highest quality investigative programming on cable, Investigation Discovery has been devoted to providing its viewers with insight into true stories that piece together the puzzles of human nature since its launch in 2008. With a packed slate of new and returning series in October, anchoring the month is the world television premiere of Academy Award(R)-nominated filmmaker Werner Herzog's documentary, INTO THE ABYSS, an ID Films presentation airing on October 23 from 8-10 PM (E/P). In this film, Herzog explores the dark reaches of humanity through conversations with death row inmate Michael Perry and interviews those affected by his crimes, conducting a uniquely thought-provoking analysis of why people - and the state - kill. This critically acclaimed feature is a companion to the four-part television series, ON DEATH ROW, which premiered on ID in March, 2012.

In addition, throughout October, America's guilty pleasure network introduces a programming slate featuring viewer favorites rich with suspense, scandal, and deadly deceit. Kicking off the month, the voices of the dead come to life when the ABC series FINAL WITNESS joins ID's collection of captivating series on October 1 at 10 PM (E/P). Returning favorites include: a retired detective relives the details of his most haunting cases in the season two premiere of HOMICIDE HUNTER: LT. JOE KENDA on October 2 at 9 PM (E/P); familiar felons are unveiled in a new season of DEVIL YOU KNOW on October 17 at 10 PM (E/P); and grief and greed collide - celebrity style - in a new season of THE WILL: FAMILY SECRETS REVEALED on October 18 at 9 PM (E/P). Finally, closing out the month is the world premiere of ID's newest series, MOTIVES & MURDERS: CRACKING THE CASE, making its debut on October 30 at 10 PM (E/P). This series explores the emotional stories of those attempting to find closure in homicide investigations, from the victims' families to the dedicated police officers doing everything possible to solve the case.

"Investigation Discovery's growing success has been built around our loyal viewers' unwavering need to uncover the truth," said Henry Schleiff, president and general manager of Investigation Discovery. "With premieres every night of the week throughout the month of October, we are committed to unraveling mysteries and capturing audiences' attention further with even more of the thought-provoking, engrossing, and chilling storytelling that has become a staple of ID's mainstay brand."
