ILL MANORS Released on Blu-ray/DVD, Download & On-Demand Today

Revolver Entertainment are pleased to announce that iLL MANORS, the critically acclaimed directorial debut film by Ben Drew (aka award-winning British artist 'Plan B'), will be released on DVD, Blu-Ray, Download and On-Demand, today, Monday 8th October 2012.

This groundbreaking crime-thriller is an explosive, visually stunning and gripping experience, narratively linked through original music from Plan B himself. Revolving around eight main characters living in Forest Gate, East London, over the course of a few days, their stories inter-link as they attempt to survive on the streets, portraying a gritty picture of a world that is on the brink of self-destruction.

To celebrate today’s DVD, Blu-ray & Download release of his acclaimed directorial debut “ill MANORS”, Plan B will join some of the film’s key cast at HMV’s Oxford Circus store for a special signing event this Thursday October 11th.

Ben Drew (aka Plan B), Ed Skrein, Lee Allen, Ryan De La Cruz and Anouska Mond will be at the store from 6.00pm to meet fans and sign copies of “ill MANORS”.

Ben released his third studio album as plan B, iLL MANORS, on 23rd July. Released as a soundtrack to his film of the same name, the album went straight to No.1 in the Official UK Album Charts, garnering much critical acclaim en route. iLL MANORS (the album) incorporates many elements from the film and its characters in the lyrics and music video sequences. The album's lead single and title track was described by The Guardian as "the first great mainstream protest song in years".

Ben Drew says of iLL MANORS, "I wanted to make this film to show that there is a lot we can learn when we know all the facts; when we explain the why – not just the 'what' and 'how'. This film is a chance for me to show the public things that they may not have known, where these problems start, the domino effect that they have within people's lives and how we get to the gory end results that we end up reading about in the papers."

iLL MANORSwas written as a "hip hop musical for the twenty-first century", and stars an array of British Rising stars, such as Riz Ahmed (Shifty, 4 Lions & Trishna), Ed Skrein (Piggy and The Sweeney), Natalie Press (My Summer Of Love, Fifty Dead Men Walking & Where I Belong) and Anouska Mond, as well as many who gave stunning debut performances, including Ryan De La Cruz, Lee Allen and Keith Coggins. These previously unknown acting talents were hand-picked from obscurity by Ben Drew himself during the casting process.

iLL MANORS - SYNOPSIS

We are all products of our environment. Some environments are just harder to survive in. Welcome to London, 2012. Home of the Olympic Games. Behind the veil of newly injected prosperity lies a community that's impossible to enter and even harder to escape.

After 15 years in prison, ex-dealer Kirby wants three simple things; to take back his turf, to get laid and to take revenge on the gangsters who have disrespected him. But a humiliating run-in with his former protégé sparks a chain of violence, vengeance and lethal reprisals that ripple through the community of drug dealers, pimps, and innocents all swept up into the cycle of violence and deception.

ABOUT BEN DREW (PLAN B)

Ben Drew, also known as Plan B, is an award-winning British rapper, singer-songwriter, actor and film director, raised in Forrest Gate, East London.

His second studio album THE DEFAMATION OF STRICKLAND BANKS (2010) went straight into the UK album chart at no. 1. Ben released his third studio album, iLL MANORS, as the soundtrack to the film of the same name, in June. The album also topped the UK Album Charts to critical acclaim

Ben has acting experience of his own, having completed roles in the Noel Clarke films ADULTHOOD and 4.3.2.1 and also in Daniel Barber's Harry Brown, which starred Michael Caine as the titular hero.

He recently finished shooting THE SWEENEY opposite Ray Winstone in the George Carter role – released in cinema’s 12th September 2012.
