According to The Hollywood Reporter, Phillip Phillips has earned the highest ever American Idol digital debut sales on record with his single 'Home' which bowed at No. 2 with 278,000 downloads sold according to Nielsen SoundScan. The single is also the second-best digital sales week ever for an Idol contestant, after Kelly Clarkson's 2009's "My Life Would Suck Without You" which debuted with 280,000 downloads.

IDOL champ Carrie Underwood had her best sales week for a song in 2009, with "I Told You So" (featuring Randy Travis) which started with 125,000 downloads. 'Home' also surpassed David Cook's 2008 "The Time Of My Life" as the biggest sales week for any Idol winner's finale single.

Phillips' single is also the fourth-largest debut of the year, trailing behind Justin Bieber's "Boyfriend" (521,000), Maroon 5's "Payphone" featuring Wiz Khalifa (493,000) and Katy Perry's "Part of Me" (411,000).

Phillips, competed in the finale of season 11 of American Idol, during which time he underwent eight different surgeries. The 21-year-old will soon undergo another kidney operation before kicking off the American Idol Summer Tour in July.
