As first reported on Deadline.com Hailee Steinfeld is currently in negotiations to star in the upcoming comedy WHY WE BROKE UP from Fox 2000. The film will be directed by Beth McCarthy-Miller. The comedy is based on the book by Lemony Snicket author Daniel Handler who also penned the script. Twilight Saga's Karen Rosenfelt will produce.

Steinfeld will portray Min, described as "a high school sophomore and cinephile who enjoys hanging out with friends at her favorite coffee shop. She falls hard for Ed, a senior and captain of the basketball team, and gets caught up in their whirlwind romance." The film is set just after the end of the relationship when Min throws a letter and box of mementos on his front porch.

Steinfeld was nominated for an Academy Award for her breakthrough role in True Grit. She will next be seen in Romeo And Juliet, and is currently shooting Ender's Game.
