The 1997 documentary directed by S.R. Bindler captures several days of lunacy, laughter, struggle, stamina and heartbreak experienced throughout an endurance competition between twenty-four small-town Texans for a brand new "Hardbody" pickup truck. The 1995 competition lasted for seventy-seven continuous hours and offers a remarkable study of competition, camaraderie, faith and determination -- the ultimate human drama.
The film, previously unavailable for over ten years, has been digitally restored and re-mastered from the original Hi8 tapes. Additionally a Broadway musical adaptation of Hands on a Hardbody is currently in previews at New York's Brooks Atkinson Theater, officially opening this week, on Thursday, March 21, 2013 (www.handsonahardbody.com).
