NBC Sports' SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL features a classic coast-to-coast rivalry with nine combined SUPER BOWL titles, when the New York Giants host the San Francisco 49ers from MetLife Stadium this Sunday, Oct. 11, at 8:30 p.m. ET on NBC. Coverage begins with FOOTBALL NIGHT IN AMERICA - the most-watched weekly studio show in sports - at 7 p.m. ET.

Sunday night's meeting between the 49ers and Giants marks the first time that the historic franchises will square off on NBC's Sunday Night Football. San Francisco and New York have faced each other 38 times dating back to 1952, including eight playoff games and two NFC Championship Games (1991 and 2012). The all-time series is tied 19-19.

Sunday's matchup marks the second game in as many years between the teams at MetLife Stadium, following San Francisco's 16-10 victory over the Giants in Week 11 last season. In addition, the 49ers-Giants showdown is the first SNF game at MetLife Stadium since Week 12 last year, when Giants WROdell Beckham Jr. made his iconic one-handed grab against the Cowboys.

Calling 49ers-Giants are seven-time Emmy Award-winner Al Michaels (play-by-play), in his record 30th season as THE VOICE of the NFL's premier primetime package; 16-time Emmy Award-winner Cris Collinsworth, who has won the Emmy for Outstanding Event Analyst in each of his six seasons in the SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL booth; and two-time Emmy Award-winning sideline reporter Michele Tafoya.

NBC's coverage of SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL is led by Emmy Award-winning producer Fred Gaudelli and Emmy Award-winning director Drew Esocoff.

Football Night in America, the most-watched studio show in sports, is hosted by 26-time Emmy Award-winner Bob Costas, who will report from MetLife Stadium. Costas will be joined on site by Collinsworth, Tafoya, and two-time SUPER BOWL winner Hines Ward.

Dan Patrick co-hosts Football Night from NBC Sports Group's International Broadcast Center in Stamford, Conn., joined by Super Bowl-winning head coach Tony Dungy, two-time SUPER BOWL winner Rodney Harrison, Mike Florio of PRO FOOTBALL TALK on NBCSN and NBCSports.com, and NFL Insider Peter King.Kathryn Tappen will report from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on the Patriots-Cowboys game.

NBC'S SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL RIDES RECORD STREAK OF INCREASED VIEWERSHIP TO BEST START FOR NFL PRIMETIME PACKAGE IN 22 YEARS

For the first time in the 10-season history of NBC's Sunday Night Football, viewership and household rating have increased for each of the network's first five games, resulting in the best start in more than two Decades for the NFL's premier primetime package.

Through the opening four weeks of the NFL season (five telecasts), NBC's SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL is averaging 25.3 million viewers - the best viewership for the NFL's broadcast primetime package at this point in the season in 22 years (26.3 million in 1993), according to official national data released by The Nielsen Company. SNF is averaging a 14.7/25 household rating - the best start for the broadcast primetime package in 18 years (15.2/27 in 1997).

FOOTBALL NIGHT IN AMERICA (7:30-8:15 p.m. ET), the most-watched weekly studio show in sports, is averaging 10.6 million viewers - the best start in the show's 10-season history and up 31% from last year at this point (8.1 million). In addition, the 8-8:30 p.m. ET portion of FOOTBALL NIGHT IN AMERICA (including pre-kick coverage), is averaging 14.7 million viewers, and a 5.3 rating among Adults 18-49, which would rank No. 4 among regularly-scheduled primetime shows in the demographic.
