ABC News' "Good Morning America" ranked No. 1 in Total Viewers (4.377 million) for the week of December 26, 2016, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. "GMA" outperformed "Today" (3.982 million) by its largest margin of victory (+395,000) in 1 year - since w/o 12/28/15.
"GMA" slashed its week-to-week margins with "Today" by more than half in both Adults 25-54 (-64% - 77,000 vs. 215,000) and Adults 18-49 (-54% - 106,000 vs. 230,000). In fact, "GMA" turned in its closest performance in 1 year in Adults 25-54 and narrowest in 6 months in Adults 18-49- since weeks of 12/28/15 and 6/13/16, respectively. Season to date, "GMA" is the No. 1 morning newscast in Total Viewers, leading "Today" by 94,000 (4.645 million vs. 4.551 million) to take the top spot at this point of the season for the 5th year in a row. During the week, "GMA" led "CBS This Morning" in Total Viewers (+33%/+1.081 million), Adults 25-54 (+46%/+415,000) and Adults 18-49 (+38%/+250,000). NOTE: With the Christmas holiday, the Monday telecasts of "GMA" and "CBS This Morning" were coded as specials, and "Today" was retitled to "Today Show-TS." "Today" was also retitled to "Today Show-TS" on its Friday telecast. Each special and retitled telecast is excluded from the weekly averages.
