According to The Hollywood Reporter, Alex Newell, who stars as Wade Adams -- aka Unique -- on Fox's musical comedy GLEE, has signed with Atlantic Records and will release his debut album with Glee executive music producer Adam Anders' Deep Well imprint.

"Singing is my passion and to now have the opportunity to make my own music is a dream come true!" Newell said. "I can't thank my new Atlantic and Deep Well family enough for welcoming me with open arms."

Newell was the runner-up on the first season of Oxygen's THE Glee PROJECT and made his Glee debut in a two-episode arc. He is now a series regular on season five.

Newell has made celebrity appearances on Home & Family, Good Day L.A., Teens Wann Know, Masterchef, the 2013 Do Something Awards and this year's Teen Choice Awards.

He will next be seen in the movie Geography Club, set for release this month.
