According to The Hollywood Reporter, French movie actor Jean Reno is set to star in a new TV series LE GRAND from Emmy-winner Rene Balcer. Balcer is known for his work on Law & Order and its spinoff series Law & Order: Criminal Intent as well as the short-lived Law & Order: Los Angeles. The show, consisting of eight hour-long episodes, will be produced by Lagardere's Atlantique Productions. The project marks the first time a series is being filmed in English entirely on location in Paris.

LE GRAND is described as a "character-driven crime series featuring Reno as a pitiless elite cop who stops at nothing to solve mysterious murder cases." This is Reno's first time in a leading TV role on a series. He is best known for his long movie career for such films as The Big Blue, Leon: the Professional, La Femme Nikita, Mission: Impossible, Pink Panther and The Da Vinci Code.

On the series, Reno will portray police detective Joachim “Jo” Legrand. His on-screen adventures will take place througout the city of Paris. Each case will be associated with an iconic landmark in the French capital city, including Notre Dame, the Catacombs and the Paris Opera House.

Creator Balcer is known for his work on Law & Order and its spinoff series Law & Order: Criminal Intent as well as the short-lived Law & Order: Los Angeles.

Atlantique CEO Klaus Zimmerman commented, “Combining the massive screen presence of a feature film star such as Jean Reno and the writing skills of one of America’s most successful showrunner is a truly amazing opportunity and yet another example of the potential and the range of international productions."
