The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences today announced the 64th Annual Emmy(R) Award nominations, selecting the EPIX Original Music Event Seth MacFarlane: SWINGIN' IN CONCERT in the Outstanding Music Direction category.

This year's Emmy Nomination is the fourth nomination for EPIX in less than three years since its launch. In 2011 the EPIX Original Comedy Event Louis C.K.: Hilarious was a two-time Emmy nominee and in 2010 the EPIX Original Documentary BELIEVE: The Eddie Izzard Story was nominated.

In the sold-out live performance of his album Music is Better Than Words, which premiered on EPIX last fall, the Emmy Award-winning, multi-talented MacFarlane and his 39-piece all-star orchestra breathed new life into a selection of hand-picked pieces from the Great American Songbook from the 1940s through 60s. MacFarlane also utilized multi-track audio for HDTV and transported himself and viewers to the era with the help of Grammy nominated singer, Sara Bareilles.

"We congratulate Seth MacFarlane and Music Director Joel McNeely on this honor," said EPIX CEO and President Mark Greenberg. "EPIX is committed to delivering top quality premium programming and it is exciting to see this work recognized for a third year in a row."
